Animation Test: Pond

During the 10x10 project last year I created a pond scene with fish and lily pads which I really want to include within this film. I think it would be a great atmospheric shot to help set the scene of where they live and to show case the beauty of the forest around them. I also think it would be nice if I could show the Familiar in fish form, it would give the film even more magical elements for the audience to enjoy.

This is the film that I created for 10x10. I made it especially with the peace of music in mind, it's a moment of calm and incredibly relaxing to watch. It needs to improvements before I put it into my graduate film, however, because I only made this one within the time frame of one day.

Pond colour test

This is the new version that I came up with for my film. I don't feel the need to do any colour tests other than this as I'm really happy with the way it looks. I got rid of the white background so that it looks less abstract and I made everything a little larger so it fits within the screen better. I used the same lily pads and flowers but experimented more with Kyle Brushes to achieve the exact look I wanted.

This is an animation test for the sort of thing that I would like within my film. I've improved the lily pads and flowers floating so that they seem more natural, and I actually animated the tails of the fish so that they moved instead of gliding statically through the water like the 10x10 version. For the film version I'd like to have the Familiar in fish form in the pond too, maybe chasing other fish around or generally causing mischief. He would have to be easily recognisable from the other fish as well, I was thinking of making him a koi fish so that he stood out.
