For my final scene I needed to explain the witch's motivations and conclude the narrative. This is the longest scene in the film, coming in at 1 minute 26 seconds long. A lot happens within this time frame, it's very information heavy, but I still needed it to be clear, stylish, and aesthetically pleasing.
I'm very happy with the end result. This was probably the most challenging scene in the entire film both mentally and physically. I think that it rounds the story off well, though. The witch's motivations are revealed in a stylish and clever way, and the narrative ends naturally as soon as she starts to eat this meal that she's spent the whole film gathering and growing ingredients for.
As you can see, I've removed the clock shot from the start of the scene. I realised that it was actually quite pointless to include, as the audience already knows that a lot of time has passed due to the travelling sunset scenes. I wanted to add it to remind the audience of the start of the film, but when in the end it just seemed like a filler scene that didn't really belong.
I decided to keep the shot with the shelves in, though. I think that it's different enough from the original shot of the plant shelves in the first scene to be included, yet still reminiscent of the first scene and reminds the audience of the strange symmetry and peculiarity of the witch's house.
I'm content with the shot of the with growing the flower. I think that it could be improved upon, but I'm not going to jump to any conclusions so close to the deadline. If I want to make changes I'll do it for the Film House screening.
