Final Scene: The Kitchen

I wanted to elements of all of the rooms I've created for the house within this scene. For example, use glasses and jars from the pots scene as well as consistency with the colours I use and the shelves. I've designed a really nice space for the witch to live and the kitchen will be no different. It will have elements of being a 'normal' kitchen as well as small magical details for the audience to notice.

Kitchen 1

I really like the colours I've used in this first version, they're muted and natural yet also stand out from each other. The lay out definitely needs some work to improve it. There also isn't a sense of symmetry that the rest of the film has - I think that I'll add some shelves to the other side of the shot so that they match. Also, there's no where for the Familiar to sit so that will help with the issue of lack of space. I need to keep the left side of the counter free for its presence.

Kitchen 2

I think that this is big improvement on the last version. Despite the shelves being partly hidden behind the sage, and holding glasses and jars instead of pots, there is still the illusion of symmetry that the rest of the film possesses. There's also enough room for the Familiar.

This is the final version of the first kitchen shot for the scene. I'm really happy with how it looks. It was quite time consuming so I asked my friend Maddie to help with some of colouring since I was worried that I would run out of time. There's also a number of different layers and components to this shot which made it a little more complicated than the other ones I've done. I think that it works well though. There's a lot going on for the audience to look at but it's not overwhelming. I also think that the gently bobbing ingredients is very calming and relaxing to look at.

This is the final version of the second kitchen shot for the scene. I'm happy with how this has turned out as well. There are slight changes regarding the ingredients that she's putting in the concoction, plus the Familiar is a cat instead of an owl. I'm really pleased with how it looks, everything works well, and I think it's very clear and concise regarding what's happening in the shot.
