This was one of the more time consuming and complex shots in this scene, I'm so glad I included it as it's turned out really well.
This is the first version of the shot. I think that the amount of time I put into it is evident as it's an incredibly smooth piece of animation. I'm so glad that I took the time to make it because it really helps to give the film that supernatural/magical atmosphere.
This is the second version of the shot. The book animation is great but it's also a little bit flat therefore I decided to add some lighting effects as well as dusty bits. Introducing them into this scene works well to link with the opening scene as well, although I think that I've added too many in this particular version and it's quite distracting from the main animation.
This is the final version of this shot from the second scene and I'm extremely happy with it. I kept the lighting effect and toned down the dusty bits. I think that it looks like the opening shot of a fairy tale which is what I wanted to go for due to the magical elements of the story. I'm very pleased with this shot and it will help to introduce the audience to the proper plot line of the story.
