Scene 3: Flower Growth

Originally I had this shot right at the start of this scene, but I thought that it worked a little later on. After the Familiar's reveal I wanted to wait a little bit before demonstrating more of the film's magical elements. Also, the green I used didn't seem to fit in anywhere nicely now that I'd changed the colour scheme to Autumn so at the end of the scene seemed the most sensible place.

I think that this shot has worked out beautifully. The foot animation is lovely and smooth and the flower growth is understated yet effective. I think that I may try and experiment with colour so that it more closely matches the shot before though, with the dark purple background.

This is the final version of the flower growth shot. I'm happy that I decided to change the colour to dark purple as it matches more with the shot before and the over all theme of the film. The darkness of Autumn and the mixture of stark colours versus deep and rich ones comes across very nicely. As well as this, by making the background darker it helps to highlight the witch's magic visually as well as hypothetically. If she can nurture things and make them grow during a time where they're supposed to be dying, she must be a very magical being.
