I decided that this point in the film would be a good place for the pond to go. It's another filler shot that helps to transition to the next part of the film. It helps to push the narrative. I'm including 2 versions of colour as before, due to the fact that one matches the lush greenery of what I first wanted the film to look like, in contrast to the Autumn colours that I decided to go with.
The first ever version of this pond was made last year in one day for the 10x10 project. The fish in that version weren't very detailed and didn't actually 'swim' at all - I just key framed them to glide across the screen. In this version I wanted the fish to actually look like they were swimming in the pond so I created a few little swimming fish silhouettes for this shot. They've turned out very nicely and they were very simple to make. I think they'll look really nice in the final version.
This is the first version of the pond shot. The surrounding areas are a very lush green as I made this prior to making the decision of having more Autumnal colours.
This is the second version of the pond shot. As you can see I've changed the colours so that they match the Autumnal theme that I've gone with. I think that the swimming fish work really nice in this shot. I definitely makes it look more realistic than just statically gliding across the scene like the original video I made during 10x10 last year. I think that this is a lovely transition scene that reminds the audience that there is more to look at in this forest than just following the witch and her Familiar around. The animation was very simple key framing. It was a little bit complicated due to the number of components, but I think it's turned out really well - it's definitely one of the nicest shots in this scene and the whole film.
