Scene 4: The Plants

I used the same colour palette that I used for the other plants and ingredients in the book in the second scene to complete this scene. I wanted the drawing versions of the plants to be easily recognisable and accurate portrayals when the audience saw this scene.

I think that it's easy to see the elements of inspiration that I've incorporated from visiting the Botanic Gardens here regarding the colouring. These look like the drawings of the witch while still being clear and concise.

I wanted to remove the pencil outline in order to show that this was the real plant growing. I've done this for all of the plants shown on the page and I think that it's worked really well.

I love the speckling that I've used here. They look very visually striking. I'm also glad that I've shown them growing in clumps instead of just the single leaf in order to make it look more realistic. The witch only needs one leaf for her recipe but this is how they grow as a whole.

I really like the colour that I've done these mushrooms. The redness of them suggests that there's something sinister about them. Perhaps they're poisonous?

This will be the background for the missing ingredient. I definitely need to add some sort of animation on this to so that it's not just a flat image. Like I said before, possibly some light rays and dusty bits to liven it up.
