Storyboard 3: Making Soup

This is another sequence that I had in my head for a while - it's quite a long one. I'm not sure if this story board is the best way of telling it, I will definitely have to develop and re work it but I'm adamant that it be in the animation as I think it's a great way of conveying the mischief of the familiar and their friendship.

Soup 1

- Kitchen setting and sound, opening shot of soup bubbling away in a pot, steam rising. Warm colours, cosy and homey.

Soup 2

- Cuts to witch with back to the camera, chopping veg/cooking, familiar in cat form walks into shot from the right.

Soup 3

- Familiar starts winding round her legs in cat form, normal cat behaviour.

Soup 4

- Familiar winds tail around her leg, looks up at the food being cooked

Soup 5

- Camera cuts back to soup bubbling away on the stove, witch drops ingredients into it, does she use hand or magic? Does it change colour?

Soup 6

- Familiar pops up and looks at soup bubbling away, look at her then back to soup, vanishes again

Soup 7

- Familiar jumps up as frog and into the pot, water plop animation

Soup 8

- Familiar sits in soup with ingredients bobbing around, soup bubbling away

Soup 9

- The familiar starts to eat all the ingredients in the soup!!!

Soup 10

- Familiar basks in the heat of the soup all fat and happy

Storyboard Reflection:

These are my first storyboards for some scenes I've had in my head. I want to go and scan these into photoshop and add colour and/or tone. I want to make them more detailed and add more frames, perhaps create some animatics and animation tests. I definitely want to try out some colour palettes, especially in the kitchen scene. I also want to add more detail to the house and its interiors as it's much easier to do this on a large screen rather than in a small box.
